HOW DO YOU GET YOUR MAIL?

We have a mail service. TravelingMailbox.com
This is very slick. All our mail goes directly to Minneapolis for us. However, there are other Traveling Mailboxes throughout the US and world.

When we receive mail they will send us an email to let us know we have mail. We can either delete, shred, open and scan or open and send to us. If we are going to be in a spot for a while we can have them send us the mail. Most campgrounds will accept the mail for you.

As mail comes in we try to get it switched to be set up online to eliminate all the extra mail.

HOW DID YOU GET RID OF EVERYTHING YOU OWN?

Downsizing our house has been a monstrous task since Sandi has been collecting antiques since 1990. Here are some ideas on ways to get rid of your stuff. We sold on Facebook Marketplace (which was the most successful), Facebook Garage Sale sites, Amazon, Craigslist, K-Bid Online Auctions and ebay. Plus we donated car loads to charities.. My brother is storing about 40 boxes of stuff that I wasn’t willing to just give away. I listed it all in a spreadsheet and took pictures so I could list it from the road and still try to sell it. He is willing to ship items for us after they sell on various marketplaces.

Who knew how much time it would take to get rid of everything you have collected your whole lives. It’s crazy how freeing it is to let go of all the piles of stuff you’ve collected over the years. 

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE TO GET RID OF EVERYTHING?

It took us three years, but keep in mind I was a collector so I wanted to get good prices for our stuff. You can do it a lot faster it you want to just get rid of it. Especially by donating it to families in need. 

HOW CAN I CONTRACT YOU?

Really the best way to reach us is by leaving a comment. We do try to read every comment and do our best to respond. 

WHERE ARE YOU CURRENTLY?

There is a lot that goes into making a post. We never know what our upload speed will be because is varies so much at each location. A post may come out weeks or months after we have been somewhere. We are not that quick to put together an article. I wish we were 🙂 

HOW DO YOU AFFORD TRAVELING?

We both work very hard. This life is not a continuous vacation. Chuck works a regular remote part time job, we both teach and have our website Lesson Pros. We have enough money coming in to make it work once we got rid of our house payment and utility bills that helped. We are definitely not living high of the horse.

ARE YOU RICH?

Not by any means, we have to budget just like everyone else does. We are rich in experiences and love. If we can’t afford to go out to dinner for a week or a month we just don’t go out. If we need to cut back on our camping we will rough it for a while there is lots of BLM land (which is public land you can camp for free).

PRO TIP: When we get to an area we Google search top FREE things to do in this town. We do a lot of FREE things. There is beauty all around even in your own home town that is FREE. Go explore.

HOW CAN I AFFORD THIS LIFESTYLE?

Start saving. Skip going out to eat or buying new fancy clothes or whatever you spend money on. Start a budget and have a trip fund or full time travel fund. I would definitely have some money saved up before trying this life style.

You never no when things are gonna break. Every time you drive your rig it is like an earthquake going down the road. It’s not a matter of if it will break, it’s a matter of when something will break. So have a plan, be prepared. 

HOW MANY MILES TO THE GALLON DO YOU GET WITH YOUR SUNSEEKER?

We currently have a 3170DS Forest River Sunseeker and get right around 9 or 9.5 without the car. With the car being pulled it is about 9. It doesn’t look like great gas mileage, but when you compare gas mileage to bus conversions or the big class A’s we’re getting by pretty good. 

We have dreams of getting 5th wheel with a mid-bunk (to turn into our office) and a truck so were’re trying to budget and save up. Bigger living space, nicer office, oh to dream. 

DOES SANDI DRIVE THE RV?

Yes, I drive the RV. Chuck mostly drives but when he is tired or if we have an easy route I will drive. I don’t like the windy roads or windy days (that was weird I had to do a double take on the windy versus windy) If it’s windy or windy we don’t drive long anyways. We typically drive 4 to 5 hours a day.

When we first started out we would drive all night long with the truckers but then realized very quickly we missed out on a lot of the countryside and picture opportunities so we stop driving so long and so late.

Also, when we started out, we drove with a lead foot, 75 to 85 pulling a car. I would be flying by the semis at night but after watching Heavy Rescue on Netflix we really slowed down thanks to that show. Now, we drive between typically 55 and 60, plus get a little better gas mileage.

IS ANYONE PAYING YOU FOR YOUR BLOG?

The ultimate goal of this blog is to inspire and teach. I feel like everyone, at some point in their lives asks the question, What is my purpose? I feel like after years of trying to figure out our purpose, I truly believe we found our purpose. If we can help one person in this world to enjoy their life, get inspired, teach someone else themselves, etc. it a ripple effect. Let’s create the ripple effect together. Pass it on and do it complaint free. lol

On the flip side, it would be okay with us if someone came up and said “Hey can you write this article and post it on your blog? I will pay you.” I might have to take them up on it to build the gas/wine fund up. It’s okay to dream a little. 

WHY ARE THERE TYPOS ON THIS BLOG?

I don’t have a college degree and never was very good at english and/or writing. Heck, my mom helped write all my book reports when I was younger. That being said, if you find a typo on a blog post be sure to point it out and we will get it fixed as soon a mentally and physically possible. Thanks for your help.

WHO ARE YOUR INSPIRATIONS?

There are so many great bloggers and filmmakers these days. I would definitely say we loved watching Departures on Netflix. Also for YouTube we love Casey Neistat and aspire to be like him. No, we don’t really want to be like him, we just love his stuff. He is so talented and creative. At this point we aren’t doing a YouTube channel except our Lesson Pros backing tracks and drums tracks channels.

WHERE DO YOU CALL HOME?

Every place we go but I think for both of us we would consider Minnesota still our home. We were both born and raised there and have a love for Minnesota except the snow. We don’t miss the snow at all. Chuck is still a Viking fan so that probably counts as loving your home team. Although he loves lots of football teams. Well just football in general. Football anything. lol

I have a huge family in Minnesota which I do miss while traveling. With Skype it is nice to visit with them over the internet. Plus we will spend most of our summers back home in Minnesota.

We definitely consider every place we visit like home. We’ve met the nicest people who instantly become our extended family. Every new location is our temporary home that we love so much. I can’t even begin to tell you how many people have told us that anytime we are passing through their hometown we are more than welcome to stay with them. There sure a lot of great people out there. We are so thankful for the people we have met on this journey already and are excited to continue to connect with more of you.
