HOW DO YOU GET YOUR MAIL?
The number one question we get while full-time RVing, “How do you get your mail?” This was a number one question we asked also before we found out how other full-time RVers got their mail.
MAIL SERVICES
We have a mail service which is so slick. Traveling Mailbox. Travelingmailbox.com. They can do it all for you and the best part is NO MORE JUNK MAIL. Well at least very little anyway. Our mailbox is still located in Minnesota. However, Traveling Mailbox is in several states throughout the United States.
MONTHLY FEE
We pay a monthly fee of $20. It allows us 25 scans a month. If we need something forwarded to us it does cost a few extra dollars which is a very rare occasion these days because everything is done online.
HOW IT WORKS
Traveling Mailbox will send you an email when you get mail in your mailbox. You then have the following choices:

Traveling Mailbox will also deposit checks for you for a fee. We don’t use this service, especially since most banks have a free mobile deposit. We print the check-off and take a picture of it then send the picture to the bank. It works very well.
SENDING MAIL TO YOU
The United States Post Office does allow general delivery. What does that mean? We didn’t know either. You can have your mail sent to any United States Post Office if you are gonna be in one area for less than 30 days. We have had to have our license plate tabs shipped to us from our Traveling Mailbox. It was very easy. Just call or go to your local Post Office and ask if you can have some items shipped in general delivery.
You will need to fill out a temporary address form. If the Post Office is small enough they might even call you when the item comes in.

Several other companies can handle your mail for you and plenty to research. We went with Traveling Mailbox because Chuck’s mom had already used the service, so we figured if she uses it that was good for us.

PRO TIP
Having a traveling mailbox is a wonderful way to get your mail. There are many great resources out there to check out. We started with having our family get our mail and found this was worth the $20 a month to not have my mom have to deal with our mail.
